Regulation of Fuels and Fuel Additives: Standards for Deposit Control Gasoline Additives

Section 211(l) of the Clean Air Act requires the Environmental Protection Agency to establish specifications for deposit control detergent additives. On November 22, 1993, the Environmental Protection Agency issued a notice of proposed rulemaking for standards for deposit control detergent additives. On October 15, 1994, EPA promulgated a final regulation (published in the Federal Register on November 1, 1994 (59 FR 54678)), with an interim program for detergent additives, which will be replaced by a full certification detergent program in a subsequent action.
